A System of Analysis

Early chiropractors observed that subluxations often caused one leg to appear shorter or contracted. By comparing leg lengths while the patient turned their head, they could determine whether the subluxation was located in the upper, middle, or lower spine. This simple yet effective protocol became an important tool in identifying problem areas and guiding adjustments.

Terminal Point Table

When you first receive an adjustment using the Thompson Technique, you may notice our specialized segmental “drop” table.

The table has individual cushions, or “drop pieces,” positioned along its surface to support each section of your spine. When the chiropractor delivers a gentle thrust, the corresponding drop piece releases slightly. This motion reduces the amount of force needed to adjust that specific spinal segment, making the process both precise and comfortable.

A Precise Approach

In 1955, Dr. Thompson was awarded a patent for his groundbreaking method. Renowned for its accuracy and outstanding patient outcomes, the technique has since gained worldwide adoption and continues to deliver exceptional results.

  • How is the Thompson Technique different from other chiropractic methods?

The Thompson Technique is a gentle, precise chiropractic method that begins with a leg check while the patient lies face down, identifying spinal or pelvic imbalances that can make one leg appear shorter. Using a specialized drop table with segmented sections that lower slightly during adjustments, the chiropractor can correct misalignments with less force, improving comfort and reducing twisting or torque on the body. This lighter, smoother approach is ideal for patients who prefer a softer touch or have difficulty with traditional manipulations, and it follows a systematic

  • Is this method appropriate for children and seniors?

The drop table is designed with a special “weighing” system. The drop pieces are set just slightly heavier than your body weight, allowing us to deliver a gentle, comfortable, and highly effective adjustment—perfect for patients of all ages.

  • Do you combine Thompson Drop Table adjustments with other chiropractic techniques?

As with other chiropractic methods, the Thompson Technique can be integrated with other natural healing modalities.
